科学由科学理论与技术工程共同驱动。理论负责构造模型、完成数学推演;工程与观测实验提供检验标尺,把想法和现实世界对照。仅有数学自洽,并不等于该理论具备科学意义。

弦论拥有极为精巧的数学结构,代数几何、共形场论大量工具在此融合,内部推导严密,形式上近乎完美。它目标宏大,希望统一引力与量子力学。但它面临一个现实瓶颈:它给出的物理效应落在普朗克尺度,现有以及可预见的实验条件,都难以对其做出检验,既不能证实,也难以证伪。即便未来弦论内部所有数学命题都得到证明,依然拿不出可观测预言,很难指导实验,也无法转化为工程层面的应用。

也就是说:数学上再完美,如果缺少和现实对接的出口,就只能停留在数学建构,却无法解决实际科学难题,如统一四个基本力和解决三体问题。
