1. How excited are you to be a part of Sony SAB’s Jijaji Chhat Per Hain?
The feeling to be a part of Sony SAB again has completely been surreal. I have always followed Jijaji Chhat Per Hain and have really enjoyed watching it and now being a part of a show that continues to gain immense love and support from their viewers was really exciting for me. As an artist, it was an opportunity to work with some immensely talented artists and one of the most sought after production house. This was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
2. What can the viewers expect with your entry on the show?
Sony SAB is known for its light-hearted content and a show like Jijaji Chhat Per Hain is that perfect blend of light-hearted comedy. What I am looking to achieve with my character, Khasotey, is to add to the happiness and humour quotient of our show. My love for comedy genre comes from the desire to make people smile and forget their problems for a while. If I’m able to achieve this with Khasotey, I will consider myself really fortunate.
3. What made you accept the role of Khasotey for Jijaji Chhat Per Hain? Tell us something more about this role.
When I was approached for the role of Khasotey, I was instantly intrigued to know more about him. He is a character with a really interesting background. He runs his own business as a barber in Dubai and in Delhi. Khasotey as a dutiful brother, gave the responsibility of running the business in Chandni Chowk to his younger brother. He has returned to his hometown to expand his business in Delhi and be close to his family and childhood friend, Murari. He is a character who is full of life and ideas to put anyone out of their troubles. Khasotey is “sabke dard ka elaaj”.
4. The show has been running successfully for over a year now. How does it feel to be a part of such a show? What are your expectations from your role?
I was nervous like any other newcomer but I was surprised and thrilled when I met everyone on the set. We have immensely talented and welcoming artists and production team and it instantly felt like I have been a part of Jijaji Chhat Per Hain family since the very beginning. While taking on the role of Khasotey, I knew the expectations would be high and I was ready to take on that challenge.
5. Do you think there are any similarities between your character and you in real life?
The biggest similarity that I share with this show and the character is my connection to Delhi. Jijaji Chhat Per Hain reminds me of the days when I used to spend my summer vacations with my nani in Delhi. The lingo I use while essaying the character of Khasotey takes me back to my inner ‘Dilliwala’ and reminds me of the various flavors of Delhi.
6. How has the experience been so far, shooting on the sets of Jijaji Chhat Per Hain?
The experience so far has been amazing as I again got a chance to work with Anup ji whom I have known since the time I entered the industry. We share great chemistry and earlier I was happy to find a familiar face but the entire cast made me feel really comfortable on the set and they never let me feel even for once that I’m new in the show. I couldn’t have asked for more.
7. How does it feel to be associated with Sony SAB? Do you watch any of Sony SAB shows?
I have been a part of the Sony SAB family before with Lapataganj and Chidiya Ghar and after all these years, to be a part of the channel again is like homecoming. I feel Sony SAB has an impressive collection of shows and my personal favorite is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma.
