Are you wondering what is form i-797 approval notice? Approval notice is the notice that every green card applicant is looking forward to. This is the notice which informs you that your green card has been approved. In fact, it always comes along with the green card.

Put simply form i-797 is a letter from the USCIS to you informing you of your green card approval. You do not have to fill this form or reply to them.

However, there are many i-797 forms. Not all forms are about green card approval. Many are simply acknowledging the receipt of your application, setting up an interview, and requesting more documents among other stuff.

Form i-797 is one of the standard documents that USICS uses to communicate with applicants. Instead of typing a letter, they use standard documents. They pick a form based on what they need to communicate. These forms have a unique number. These numbers are what you need to pay attention to. These numbers will help you determine what the form refers to. And of course, you need to read the form in detail because it will specify and give details as to why it was sent to you.

You can check the status of your I-797. All you need is your 13-digit case number. These are the 3 letters followed by 10 numbers.

To check your I-797 status, go to USCIS’s case status page. On that page enter your 13-digit receipt number and click the check status button. After clicking the button, the page will refresh and you will see an update with your I-797 status

Make sure you enter the right 13 digit number without any dashes or Asterix. If you make a mistake you may not get the right results. Be sure to keep the 13 digit number safe. If you lose it, you will need to reach USCIS to retrieve it because you need it for all communications and to check your status online.
